Client Case – Wife Looking For Husband To Pay Her Credit Card Debt In Divorce

The attorneys at Porcello Law represented Husband in a short-term (3 year) marriage.  The Parties did not have any children together, but both had children from previous relationships.  The Parties’ only asset was a home that they purchased shortly after getting married.  Wife was looking for Husband to pay her credit card debt, which she claimed was incurred during the marriage.  After a detailed review of the Parties’ bank and credit card statements, it was determined that the expenses were not all martial, and many were directly related to Wife and her own child, and not the family unit.  The matter ultimately resolved with each Party keeping their own debt and sharing equally the equity in the marital home once sold.
